Alanis Morissette – You Oughta Know 2009 (DJ ZAX vs. Wideboys Club Mix)
Jagged Little Pill got me through my angstful teenage years, and I remain a devoted Alanis Morissette fan to this day. It is rare for an Alanis acapella to see the light of day, so imagine my surprise when the vocals from “You Oughta Know” surfaced nearly 15 years after the song was released. This is my tribute to a song and an artist whose music is so important to me.

Keri Hilson – Turnin’ Me On (DJ ZAX vs. Mark Pichiotti Club Mix)
I have long wanted a dance mix of Keri Hilson’s “Turnin’ Me On,” so when I received the acapella I decided to make this mashup using a Mark Pichiotti instrumental. The resulting mix reminds me of Maurice Joshua’s signature style.

I created this mash-up to play at Bootie last November and have since received numerous requests to post it on my website. Recently, I went back and re-worked the mash to include some of the Soft Cell vocals. Alanis Morissette vs. The Black Eyed Peas
I am a huge Alanis Morissette fan, but it is rare to have an opportunity to remix or mash her songs up because she never releases acapellas or instrumentals. When she parodied The Black Eyed Peas in 2007, I was inspired to make this mash up combining the two versions. It was released as a Bootie exclusive on their April 2007 Top 10 list.

“When Doves Cry” Electro Remix
Prince vs. Otto Von Schirach
Otto Von Schirach did a dirty electro cover of Prince’s “When Doves Cry” called “Sliced Doves On Codeine.” Otto’s mix is cool but his vocals on the track are a little too scary for me, so I mashed up Otto’s beat and Prince’s original version into this.

“Freak Like Me” Freaky B’more Mash
Adina Howard vs. DJ Class
This is another one I’ve been playing out for the last month and that was featured on one of my recent mixtapes. I’ve always loved “Freak Like Me” by Adina Howard. When I heard the beat from DJ Class’ new track “I’m The Ish,” I thought Adina’s vocals would sound nice over top, turning the song into a B’more stomper.

This was the first mashup I made in 2009. It was featured on my “Get Fresh” mixtape and I decided to post the single track up because I had quite a few requests for it. It is a straight forward mash of Britney’s “Circus” vocals over Kid Cudi’s “Day ‘n’ Nite” (Crookers Remix) beat.
